EDUCATION PROGRAM AT ORLANDO PUBLIC LIBRARY July 29, 2006 On Saturday, July 29, 2006, ODTC participated in another community service program with the Orlando Public Library System. It was standing room only at the South Creek Library in Hunter's Creek, as dogs/handlers of ODTC put on an entertaining and educational program on how to communicate with your dog. We had lots of families with children and the dogs got lots of hugs and kisses from the crowd. Many thanks to Jaira Baco and Yanush, Kim Demanche with Jyrnee and Rynna, Aimee Kincaid with Eli, and Linda Unger with Jamie. Two of the participants have already made appointments to come and visit the classes in preparation to begin their dogs in the next session! These service programs help us spread the message of responsible dog ownership to the community and to encourage the public to train their dogs. The Orlando Public Library advertises the programs on its website and in its newsletter, and is interested in continuing the program with us. Again, many thanks to the volunteers who gave up their Saturday afternoon to help out. February 18, 2006
On Saturday, February 18, 2006, the Orlando Dog Training Club gave an education program on the main stage at the downtown Orlando Public Library. The participants were Linda Unger, Aimee Kincaid, Jaira Baco, MaryAnn Sanford, Ken Kincaid, Kim Demanche and Doreen Filippelli. The program showcased the club's training program, raising a well-behaved puppy, and some of the fun AKC events available to dog owners. We showed the Pet-Luv Therapy tape and all the dogs had the opportunity to show off some of their fun tricks and show skills. During the final 30 minutes or so, all the dogs and handlers mingled withy the audience for some hands on fun. Our youngest puppy at just 13 weeks, behaved spectacularly and our oldest performer at 13 years got a standing ovation for some of his fun tricks! A great time was had by all the participants and we are happy to report the Orlando Public Library has invited us to be an ongoing part of their public service program. We are looking forward to a children's event and a Saturday afternoon performance in the future. I would like to say a special thank you to all those who gave of their time to help make this such a wonderful success. They did a great job and were wonderful representatives for the club! Thanks everyone! Linda Unger/Training Director
