Prepare to Show Class

Wednesday evening

Open to all dog/handler teams who are preparing to show in Novice, Open and Utility classes.  All dogs must be under total control on/off leash.   No actual exercises will be taught in this class.  This class is designed to offer coaching on what is and is not acceptable in the show ring, along with actual ring experience for the dog & handler.  All exercises will be called as actually done in the AKC show ring.  Exercises will be performed with other dog/handler teams working on different exercises in the same ring.  This allows dogs the opportunity to work in a very distracted setting similar to a show.  Two instructors will be assisting students throughout the class.  Students must own and bring to class a current AKC rule book.  (can be purchased on site at ODTC) Rules and scoring will be reviewed.  While treats/toys may be used in the ring, this is not a “teaching” class but a preparation for the competition environment.

Utility Exercise Practice Class

Tuesday evening

On Tuesday evenings we are currently offering a one-hour class that features  Utility exercises.  This class is for dogs that already know how to do the exercise but need ring time in a distracted setting with other dog/handler teams to perfect their performance.  Different groupings of exercises are offered each week dependent upon the student needs.

Conformation Class

Class offers training in the skills required to best showcase your particular breed of dog in the competitive world of conformation.

Rally Run-Throughs

Wednesday evenings

Overseen and instructed by Gera Blaauw, this ring offers guidance and instruction in the fun, new , sport of Rally.  Since ring time and work with the set ups and signs is most important, this is a great opportunity to get some practice time in a real ring set up.
